Having the Red Eye Expresso right outside of the Pot sale should mean good business for both this week.

“I deserve so much more than the roles I get offered now. I’m one of the best actresses. One day I will win an Oscar. I’m already winning it. I just have to find the platform to show it. I’m already winning it! I’ve got that talent.” – Bai Ling

100 Reimagined Darth Vader helmets complete
THE VADER PROJECT
Premiering at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Show runs February 13 – May 3, 2009
The Vader Project – a reimagining of the iconic Darth Vader helmet by some of today’s hottest underground and pop surrealist painters, artists and designers – makes its museum premiere and will be on display February 13 – May 3, 2009 at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. www.warhol.org
The Vader Project is curated by Dov Kelemer & Sarah Jo Marks of DKE Toys. Kelemer and Marks gathered 100 contemporary artists. Each artist was given a 1:1 scale authentic prop replica of the actual Darth Vader helmet used in the STAR WARS™ films. Each helmet served as a blank slate for each artist to paint, design, mash up and customize.
Featuring work by Shag, Peter Kuper, Attaboy, Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Dalek, Paul Frank, Ron English, Jeff Soto, Michelle Valigura, Frank Kozik, Wade Lageose, Joe Ledbetter, Alex Pardee, Suckadelic, Cameron Tiede, Mister Cartoon, Marc Ecko, Amanda Visell and many more, The Vader Project provided an opportunity for artists to use one of the most iconic pop culture characters in film history as their canvas.

“Ask a Filipino”: A community project turned-social experiment April 20, 2009
Posted by thaswassup in BAYAN USA, Personal, Philippines, Politics, Seattle, That's Racist!, Video, funny.10 comments
In November of 2007, I, along with the help of friends B&S, created a video to be shown at a community event. The idea was inspired by Dave Chappelle’s “Ask a Black Dude“. Purposely subtle, tongue-in-cheek, and heavily sarcastic, the video was welcomed by positive response and laughter when shown at the community event. The video was posted up on youtube immediately, and since then it has clocked in to almost 30,000 views with minimal promotion (shout out to the Hyphen blog, though).
It has gotten some positive replies on youtube – those who get it have either seen the original Chappelle show skit, live in Seattle, live in Seattle AND know their local hip hop artists, have a very good sense of humor, possess a very good sarcastic radar, and….did I mention good sense of humor?
What is more interesting to me are the replies of people who don’t “get it”. These are folks who don’t read the sidebar info about the video or other people’s replies. These are folks who react immediately to the video as if the people asking the questions were totally being honest about their questions.
There are funny examples of this, especially to the question of “Why are Filipinos so short?” The subject was filmed at an angle to make him appear taller, but I digress.
To the question, “Why aren’t there any Filipino vegetarian recipes?”, the improved answer of Tofu Adobo is actually a dish made many times over by a certain homie…and yes it does taste good! Funny comments made on the youtube aren’t necessarily comments about the answer given, but recommendations on other meat-free Filipino foods (here in the states and in the Philippines). I knew we could do it, people!
The best comments are the defensive ones from folks who just don’t get the joke. As a result, they try to attack the video:
Unwarranted comments from bigots makes the video project more enjoyable for me. I find it very ironic that a lot of the defensive comments come from Filipinos, too. As the hits approach the 30,000 mark, I’m glad to see the project create dialogue, controversy and laughs (to those who get it, anyway). Feel free to visit the actual video page and comment!
White Center, Ignorance and Stereotypes April 18, 2009

Some might think that their perceptions about White Center (part of unincorporated King County) are funny, or even worse, true, but to label an area on generalizations is wack. And this goes for any area of Seattle….and I wish a muthafucka WOULD say something about the South End. End rant.
Want to learn more about White Center? I work here, and made a video about our work here.
