The term Black Friday (that’s racist!) originated in Philly because mass amount of shoppers would go to the mall the day after thanksgiving and create hella traffic, giving police and traffic enforcement a huge headache. It also means that stores are in the “black”, or turning a profit on sales. Being in the Red means losing money (that’s racist!).

I wasn’t one of the billions who woke up early to get in line at (fill in your favorite store here), pitch a tent (not in that way), brave the cold and compete with total strangers for (insert your favorite thingy here), while shooting other customers or trampling employees to death. I don’t want to be out saving money and then trying to save a life. I also don’t want to be around racist security guards and/or ignorant parents who would be quick to racially profile youth of color at Southcenter (they did catch homedude, tho).

I did the smart thing and started shopping online on Wednesday night/Thanksgiving morning. I got most of my shopping done (‘cept for one person), and will only have to worry about my secret santa at work and possible gift exchanges amongst cousins (did someone say dollar store for the fam? me thinks so). I’ll be honest in saying that I shopped hella for myself (shout out to Amazon.com), but that was a no-brainer already =)

Congrats to my dude Cesar for running the Seattle marathon today, in honor of AnakBayan Seattle’s anniversary. Watching all different types of folks cross the finish line was inspiring….i’ll try to get my Speed Walker on first before any of that.

Enjoy the new look of the site. Over 4,000 hits with no promo on my part. That’s hood platinum!
