Watch the trailer for Battle in Seattle
I just had to roll my eyes for a second after noticing that the major activists in this movie are white people. Globalization is effed up, and granted, there were mos def some white folks who did some positive things during the WTO uprisings, BUT in relation to all things global, there were also many people of color who organized against the WTO. I’m talking about unions, workers, students, etc. What’s gets on TV though? People breaking glass, running, crying…confusion and chaos ensues. All because of the SPD! Of course, I wasn’t there…but if you want to know the whole story on that, you’ll have to read my friendster testimonial from Geo. He tells it better than me.
So no, you didn’t exactly see LELO or BSU on TV. You know what we can visually remember though….those environmentalists dressed up as Turtles. Protest culture is very interesting when it comes to race, let’s just say that. The smells are different, too. Anyway, I had to hella LOL after seeing this:
You could’ve made 3000 a militant student organizer or a non-profit worker, but no. He’s a 5th member of TMNT. These are first impressions of the movie so correct me if i’m wrong….but CMON GIMME A COT DAMN BREAK.
I’ll still go see it, though.
